My lungs fill with smoke My muscles ache
I pull myself up I tell myself just a little further I can see my goal I can make it to their world
I reach it
My eyes burn with the sun I made my goal but what’s wrong My wings spread, they’re black and charred I don’t belong with them, and they tell me that
I go back to the mountain I climbed I stand at the edge
I look back at them I lean forward
I plunge back to my world

Ani walks through the front door quietly slipping her watch into her bag with Dominyk’s dagger. She starts to head up the stairs being stopped by her mother.
Mother: ANN Do you know what time it is
Ani: No my watch got stolen out of me gym locker yesterday
Mother: And Sami doesn’t have a clock
Ani: Well yeah
Mother: So you’re late why?
Ani: Listen we just lost track of time. I left at 7:05 and I even cut through downtown to try and save time but obviously I’m still late I’m sorry
Mother: You did what?!
